Putin – Trump – Musk – Zuck: The New Axis of Evil
A parallel world of power has been created, disconnected from states, political systems, laws, and social rules.
In the past ten years, a parallel world of power has been created, disconnected from states, political systems, laws, and social rules. A world in which the role of journalism and the press (the fourth estate in a state based on the rule of law) is progressively and systematically marginalized.
Tucker Carlson meets with Putin. The American Nazi meets with the Russian dictator, together poisoning global societies with their toxins and treacheries, all targeting the American elections.
The alliances of evil no longer hide. They no longer connect behind the scenes to effectively propagate like napalm bombs the black flames of fascism.
Responsibility
It doesn’t even take a television network or media outlet any more to produce and spread content of interest to global security. An editorial staff is no longer needed, and a structure that takes responsibility for content has become obsolete: the American populist provocateur produces and publishes his poison for his “channel” on X (Twitter), using the social network as a free platform and powerful planetary vilifier. It suits everyone: X, acting as a broadcaster, earns unimaginable sums with this type of content without taking any responsibility. Carlson has total freedom in formulating his lies with which he reaches a global audience, and Putin can undisturbedly explain his medieval vision of Russian imperialism and his disgust for democratic societies. This alliance of fascist populism (Carlson) with the Russian dictator (Putin) and the X social network (Elon Musk, still the richest man in the world) in front of the eyes of the whole world is emerging as the new axis of evil whose main purpose is the destruction of democracy. This thought can and must be extended to American (former Republicans) and European neo-fascist populism, the various absolutist sovereigns with their egomaniacal imperialist ideologies and the “social” media.
Mark Zuckerberg, a year ago, during his appearance in the Senate, expressed his regret for the damage caused by so-called social media, especially to young people who have suffered abuse or taken their own lives due to dangerous challenges spread on his Facebook and Instagram platforms. A few days later, his company Meta announced a 25% increase in sales over the same quarter the previous year, for a total of $23.37 billion. Meta’s market capitalization has risen to nearly $1.2 trillion: 1,200,000,000,000 Dollars (a US/UK trillion has 12 zeros, 18 zeros in Europe). Germany’s 2022 GDP1 was € 3,876,810,000,000, so about four times Meta’s value, Italy’s (2022) € 2,012,010,000,000, about twice Meta’s value, and Switzerland’s CHF 281,460,000,000, about 1/3 of Meta’s value.
A parallel world
The big three, Meta, X and Google together2 are now worth $3.5 trillion, approaching the GDP of Germany, Europe’s most important country in terms of economic value.
In the past ten years, a parallel world of power has been created, disconnected from states and political systems, from laws and political and social rules. A world in which the role of journalism and the press (the fourth estate in a state based on the rule of law) is progressively and systematically marginalized. As the fourth estate, the media have (had) a crucial responsibility in overseeing and criticizing the other three estates (legislative, executive, and judiciary). This fourth power, formerly the task of the media, is now being replaced by so-called social media without them taking responsibility for the content transmitted. Or, to put it another way: the axis of evil between populist fascists, dictators and social media is about to create a new world, one in which social media have acquired the role of the fourth estate, perverting its function and inverting its purpose. Now, instead of protecting the democratic system, this new fourth estate bombs undermines and ceaselessly shoots at it in order to bring it down.
We, citizens of democratic states, must ask ourselves and the politicians who represent us some critical questions.
What role do we want to give social media in our political system and our social and private lives?
What must we do to make them assume that role?
Do we agree that the big three3 are installing uncontrolled content distribution networks? In other words, is it consistent with our existing laws for a single individual to decide on the content they disseminate without any real oversight from society, politics, and the authorities of the countries involved?
The world that the new axis of evil is creating: is it a world we have chosen and desire? What could we do then to prevent that world from being permanently installed without our consent and, by destroying democratic systems, becoming the new reality dictated by Putin and his warring co-tyrant allies with the extreme American and European right, all through information channels managed by unscrupulous businessmen, without a moral compass and without oversight?
How do you manage your use of social media? Are you active on Twitter? Facebook? Instagram? TikTok? For what purpose?
Change My Mind!
Market Capitalization and Gross Domestic Product per year are not directly comparable since they describe two different financial phenomena. They are compared here only to give an image of the magnitude of the figures mentioned.
